Conclusion Sisters and brothers in Christ, it is my hope that you all encounter Jesus anew, and that he bring you abundant joy, the Joy of the Gospel . May that joy inspire and permeate the sharing of your faith with others. As Pope Francis said, The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness. With Christ joy is constantly born anew I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy. (The Joy of the Gospel , 1) Let us pray for a New Pentecost in the Diocese of Marquette! Let us pray that the Holy Spirit come upon us anew, that by the transforming fire of his love he may fill us with the Joy of the Gospel and form us into Spirit-filled Evangelizers, as he trans- formed the Apostles on the day of Pentecost! With prayers that your hearts be filled with the Joy of the Gospel and that you be transformed into Spirit-filled evangelizers, I am Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend John F. Doerfler, STD, JCL Bishop of Marquette June 4, 2017 Feast of Pentecost Editor's note: The Holy Spirit, who filled the apostles, disciples and the Blessed Virgin Mary at Pentecost, is often depicted in art as a dove.
