This will enable the nuns to obtain the special jubilee indulgence during the Jubilee Year of Mercy. As the sisters are cloistered, they would otherwise not be able to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Door at St. Peter Cathedral in Mar- quette to receive the indulgence. The door will remain open for use by only the sisters until the closing of the Jubilee Year in November. The Holy Doors at St. Peter Cathedral were also opened on Dec. 13 by Bishop Doerfler. The Jubilee Year of Mercy began on Dec. 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Con- ception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and will end on Nov. 20, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. More than 50 diocesan pilgrims to March for Life next week Next week marks 43 years since the United States Su- preme Court case of Roe v. Wade was decided, making abortion legal throughout the U.S. To stand up for the unborn, thousands of pro-life supports will gather in our nations capital on Jan. 22 for the annual March for Life. This year, the Diocese of Marquette will be represent- ed by more than 50 pilgrims traveling with the Yoopers for Life group. If youre not attending the march itself, there are still ways to get involved. The first is by following our pilgrims on social media. Live updates throughout the pilgrimage will be posted on The U.P. Catholic Facebook and Twitter pages. Visit www. Facebook.com/TheUPCath- olic or www.Twitter.com/ TheUPCatholic. You do not need to have a Facebook or Twitter account to view posts on The U.P. Catholics social me- dia pages. Coverage will begin when our pilgrims leave the Upper Peninsula on Jan. 20 to Washington, D.C. Another way to get involved is by participating in the 9 Days for Life Novena, spon- sored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bish- ops (USCCB). The nine-day period of prayer, penance and pilgrimage will run from Jan. 16-24. The simple novena is avail- able with different prayer intentions, brief reflections, suggested acts of reparation and recommended reading for each day. For more pro-life resourc- es or to subscribe to receive the novena by text message, email, an app, or download the printable revisions, visit, www.9daysforlife.com.
