However, due to the large snowstorm that hit the east coast the weekend of the march, the events of the pilgrimage were reevaluated. On the day of the march, Jan. 22, as scheduled, participants attended the youth rally Mass at the Verizon Center in the nation's capital. Following the Mass it was decided that the bus would start to make its trek home to avoid the storm, which meant they would not be participating in the march itself. According to a post on The U.P. Catholic Facebook page during the event, "We offer up our disappoint- ment that we will not be Marching for the sanctity of life, but we will be storming heaven with our prayers."
