This grant will benefit our students by educating them on how to become healthier, and will also provide fun activities to keep them active, SFdS principal Melissa Wood explained. Part of this wellness grant funds a premium subscription to a web- site that provides fun, interactive activities for students to do in the classroom. These activities are freat to use as brain-breaks, Wood explained, allowing the kids to move around a bit and then refocus on schoolwork throughout the day. The second grant was awarded by the Schoolcraft County Community Foundation. This grant for $1,078 will provide funds to upgrade the schools wireless infrastructure. We are humbled and grateful for the support of our local Schoolcraft County Community Foundation for helping fund our wireless infrastruc- ture upgrade, Wood said. This will provide technological support for our students in the computer lab, the lap- tops in our junior high classrooms, as well as for our staff. It will also help us provide students with up-to-date technology at the classroom level, making learning interactive and fun! The final grant was written to request funds to be used toward the eighth grade class trip. Target award- ed SFdS $600 to be used to fund the eighth grade students trip to Detroit to tour the Holocaust Memorial Cen- ter Museum and the Sea Life Aquar- ium. We feel grateful and blessed for all of these donations, she added. St. Francis de Sales students and staff will benefit for years to come because of the generosity of the Schoolcraft County Community Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Target.
