Father Strelick was born Feb. 12, 1930 in Iron Mountain, Mich., the son of the late John J. and Ann A. (Walsh) Strelick. He was ordained a priest on June 2, 1956, by Bishop Thomas Noa. Following ordination, Father Strelick served at St. Patrick Parish, Escanaba, then at St. Michael Parish, Marquette. In 1962, Father Strelick was granted a leave of absence to study Canon Law in Rome. Upon his return, he was appointed Judi- cial Vicar of the Diocese of Marquette and moderator of the Curia, as well as parochial administrator of St. Mary Parish, Big Bay and Sacred Heart Parish, Champion. Later, he was named pastor of St. Augustine Parish, Re- public, and then pastor of St. Louis the King Parish, Harvey. In 1991, Father Strelick was appointed pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Ishpeming, until his retirement from active ministry in 1995. Father Strelick retired to Spring Hill, Fla., and for several years assisted at St. Francis Cabrini Parish and other area parishes During his time in active ministry, he also served in many capacities including executive director and treasurer of the Bishop Baraga Association, member of the College of Con- sultors, Vicar for Canonical Affairs and Vicar General of the diocese. As well as diocesan director of cemeteries, Chaplain to the Marquette County Jail and as a member of the dioce- san finance council. Father Strelick is survived by his brother, Gerald J. (Eu- nice) Strelick of Richardson, Texas, two sisters, Anita (the late Gordon) Everson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mary (the late James) Jeske of Marquette, Mich. He is also sur- vived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great neph- ews. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister Ann Strelick, who died on April 3, 2017, in Colorado Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish in Iron Mountain on April 19, celebrated by Bishop John Doerfler and concelebrated by Bishop Emeritus James Garland.
