WILL YOU HELP YOUR CHILD HEAR THE CALL? LETS TALK. bhasse@dioceseofmarquette.org BY JOHN FEE THE U.P. CATHOLIC Its Chicken Soup again for Victoria LaFave, marketing coordinator for diocesan Catholic schools. LaFave has written a story featured in, Chicken Soup for the Soul: For Mom, with Love. It tells the story of her mothers warmth and wisdom guiding her through a teenage crisis. This is LaFaves fourth entry in the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series. LaFave said that having her story in the popular series of inspiration- al books is a freat way to honor the role her mother has played in her life and in her childrens lives. Her parents, Tony and Anita Derkos, were both raised Catholic and brought up LaFave and her five siblings in the Catholic faith as members of St. Joseph Parish in Escanaba. She said her upbringing had a huge impact on how she is raising her own kids. My mom has always been an important part of my life, so this was the perfect opportunity to show her how much I appreciate all that shes done for me, LaFave said. I hope the stories in this book help people to appreciate the sacrifices their moms make for them. I love reading the stories in the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. They serve as inspi- ration for millions, LaFave said. Hopefully, people will enjoy the stories in this latest book all about moms during this Mothers Day weekend. LaFave, her husband, Todd C., and children, Luke and Lisette, are members of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish in Escanaba. This is the same church of her childhood, except it was combined with St. Patrick Parish when that church closed. LaFave has also contributed to Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Happiness and Chick- en Soup for the Soul: The Magic of Mothers and Daughters. The Chicken Soup for the Soul book series of more than 250 titles has sold more than 110 million copies in the U.S. and Canada.
