(the entire Hiawathaland District) that will participate in the 2016 Mackinac Island Service Camp and Governor's Hon- or Guard. Scouts of the Mackinac Island Service Camp operate in conjunction with the Michigan State Park personnel, serving as guides throughout his- toric Fort Mackinac. Mackinac Island State Park Service accommo- dates up to 60 Michigan Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts and their leaders for their week of service as the Mackinac Island Governor's Honor Guard. This year the Hiawathaland contingent will be hosted again by Troop 411 of Escanaba. Craig Woerpel will be scoutmaster. Scout and Senior Patrol Leader, Jonathon Seeley of Manistique, will be in charge of the youth leaders. While on Mackinac, the Scouts will be on guide duty, barracks or other duty. During the scout's free time on Mackinac, they can go biking, swimming at the Grand Hotel, explore the island trails and more. All activities are done with a "buddy," or as a patrol activity such as the patrol bike ride around the island. The Scouts also have the opportunity to earn merit badges and rank advancements. The Scouts will also attend church services in full uniform on Sunday. There will be a group of Catholic Scouts going to St. Anne and another going to the Little Stone Church. Gene Williams, assistant scoutmaster, accepts new and used bikes for the scouts' use and works to keep them in good repair. He may be reached at (906) 399-7602, genepwilliams@ gmail.com Patty Woerpel works with fundrais- ing activities and may be reached at (906) 280- 2375, pbworps@yahoo.com. Scouts interested in participating in Mackinac Island Service Camp should contact Craig Woer- pel at (906) 280-0936, craig@upscouting.org.
