Clement has a lot of admirers. Bernier called her a core member of the women's club, serving as board member and treasurer, and famous for her raspberry bars. When she retired as treasurer after 15 years, Joe's Cakes in Marquette made her a special 'raspberry bomb' cake. It's odd to say," mused Bernier, "but we have some of the best funerals in town. 'Church lady casseroles' are the best comfort food! Ann's raspberry bars are one of the first things to go. Her committee makes the families and friends feel loved and cared for. She is positive and inspirational, always willing to help, and so supportive when she sees someone going through troubles." The women's club president noted that "Ann is a very committed, hardworking, passionate individual who is the very definition of a Christian woman. As funeral commit- tee head, she orders supplies and makes sure the kitchen is stocked. She's fun, energetic, and embraces teamwork. She is quick to volunteer for any event." Kitchen crews appreciate it when diners thank them for a great meal in such sad times. More than once they've heard people say, "When I die, I want my funeral luncheon here."
