Parishioners of the Diocese of Marquette are invited to join Bishop John Doerfler in a spe- cial Year of Mercy pilgrimage this summer. Bishop Doerfler will lead a pilgrimage to the three Marian Shrines of Wisconsin, Aug. 23-25. The three stops will be to The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, which is the only Church approved Marian apparition site in the United States; The Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians at Holy Hill in Hubertus; and the Shrine of Our Lady of Guada- lupe in LaCrosse. During the pilgrimage, par- ticipants have the opportunity to obtain the Plenary Indul- fence for the Year of Mercy and participate in Mass at each of the locations. Bishop Doer- ler will serve as the principal celebrant for the three Masses. Various times for confession will also be available through- out the three days. There will be some free time to on your own visit the devo- tional areas of the shrines and grottoes, along with visiting the gift shops. Some unique aspects include the grave site of Adele Brise at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help and the scenic tower at Holy Hill. Each site also includes a staff presentation on the mission and history of the shrine. The three-day and two-night pilgrimage will begin with an early morning departure on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Departures will be available from Mar- quette, Escanaba and Menom- inee. The first shrine stop is to Our Lady of Good help, where pilgrims will spend the day. The shrine at Holy Hill will be visited on Wednesday, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday. Later that afternoon, pilgrims will make their return to the Upper Peninsula with drop-offs at the same departure sites. The cost per person varies on the desired room occupancy. Single occupancy: $563; Dou- ble occupancy: $399; Triple occupancy: $343; and Quad occupancy: $313. The price includes: professional tour escort, hotels for two nights; breakfast on day two and lunch daily (other meals on your own) and shrine admission fees. CATHOLIC Bishop John Doerfler celebrated a Mass recognizing members of Bishop's Partners in Service on May 15 at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette. At this inaugural Mass, Bishop Doerfler thanked the people for partnering with him to sup- port the Diocesan Church. Annual generous giving to the UPCSA supports many ministries and services. Bishop's Partners in Service is a call to stewardship that encourages annual giving to UPCSA at one percent of each family's annual household income.
