Lord you left your Mother in our midst that she might accompany us. May she take care of us and protect us on our journey, in our hearts, in our faith. May she make us disciples like herself, missionaries like herself. May she teach us to go out onto the streets. May she teach us to step outside ourselves . May she, by her meekness, by her peace, show us the way. Cape Coast archbishop visits JOHN FEE THE U.P. Father Ocran (pastor of Holy Redeemer in Menominee) as well as Father Augustine Essel (associate pastor of St. Anne in Escanaba) and Father John Christian Essel (associate pastor of St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Ignace; Immaculate Conception, Moran and St. Anne, Mackinac Island) are priests of the Archdiocese of Cape Coast serving in the Diocese of Marquette. Father Aidoo serves in Dubuque, Iowa. Archbishop Nketsiah traveled to the U.S. to visit missionary priests from his archdiocese in Africa. International priests gather at Marygrove COURTESY PHOTO Marygrove Retreat Center in Garden hosted 13 of the 15 "extern" international priests ministering in the diocese. The May 15-16 event focused on priestly fellowship and had presentations by Steve Lynott on American culture and how to more effectively speak Midwestern standard English. Canonist and Marygrove Director Father Tim Ferguson also offered teachings on Canon Law and particular pastoral applications in U.S.A. parishes and dioceses. Episco- pal Vicar for Clergy Father Larry Van Damme attended and offered support to the international priests. With the theme, Our Lady of Fatima, in honor of the centennial of the Fatima apparitions, activities for the week include making a decade rosary and decorating a platform to carry a statue of Mary down the street. Father Jose Cherian substituted for the pastor, Father Joseph Vandannoor MST who was on vacation.
