The challenge is to build an endowment to support the cost of seminarian educa- tion for the long term. For a limited time, you can double the value of your donation to the Seminarian Endowment Fund. To incentivize giving, an anonymous donor will match, dollar-for-dollar and up to $100,000, all new gifts of $1,000 or more, or raised through special fundraising events for the program. At this time weve raised about half of our fundraising goal, and can still match up to an- other $50,000 this year, said Terri Gadzinski, diocesan development director. Seminarian Benjamin Ri- vard from Holy Family Parish in Gladstone is starting his inal year of college seminary at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. After this year, and God willing, he will still have four additional years of Theology education before he can be ordained a priest for the Diocese of Marquette. In considering the new Seminar- ian Endowment Fund, Rivard said, There is a lot of things you cant really be sure about in the future, and if you set up an endowment fund, that will provide some security and stability for income for future seminarians. Our dio- cese really needs priests, and you cant have priests without seminarians. As the Seminarian En- dowment Fund grows it will increase the dioceses ca- pacity to pay for seminarian education in a greater way. We hope to see more semi- narians. We want to be able to pay for the education of as many men as God calls, says diocesan vocations director Father Ben Hasse. Donations can be made online at www.dioceseofmar- quette/giving. Checks payable to Seminarian Endowment can be mailed to the Diocese of Marquette, Development Office, 1004 Harbor Hills Dr, Marquette, MI 49855.
