CATHOLIC For retirees Bob and Sandy Jurkovich, serving as parish volunteers at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette is how they are giving back to God for the life rich in blessings he has afforded them. The couple encourages all men and women to seek fulfillment in their senior years by joining the ranks of people who serve regularly in parishes across the diocese. This is how we are showing our appreciation for what this parish has done for us, said Bob Jurkovich. The couple raised their three children at St. Peter Cathedral and have served in countless ways throughout the years, citing that is where life-long friendships were built and lasting faith was fostered. Bob is currently a member of the parish council, the Knights of Colum- bus, and a Sunday morning usher. Sandy helps her husband serve at parish and diocesan receptions held in the church hall, and is the secretary of the altar society, which hosts many activities including an annual bazaar and serves all funeral lunches. This past August the couple said they hosted the ANGELA JOHNSON THE U.P. CATHOLIC Bob and Sandy Jurkovich pose in front of a large stack of supplies used in hosting the St. Peter Cathedral Parish picnic for the past 30 years. The couple is "retiring" from that ministry, but remain faithful to serving in many other ways. ANGELA JOHNSON THE U P CATHOLIC SEE GIVING BACK, PAGE 15
